Understanding key terms and concepts on our platform
Last Updated: March 15, 2026
A blue shield icon displayed on your profile after completing our vetting process. Requires a video verification call with admin, ID verification, and reference checks. The badge is REQUIRED to schedule Guided Introduction meetings with matches.
A mandatory 30-minute video conversation with a trained Christian admin before your profile becomes fully active. During this call, we verify your government-issued ID, discuss your faith journey, confirm your intentions for joining, and review your references. This ensures every member is a genuine Christian believer.
A reference from a friend, colleague, or someone who knows you personally and can vouch for your character, integrity, and readiness for a committed relationship. Required as part of the verification process.
A reference from your pastor, church leader, small group leader, or someone in spiritual authority who can confirm your active involvement in a Christian community and your faith journey. Required for verification.
A person who vouches for your Christian faith and character. Two references required for verification: 1 Religious (pastor, elder, spiritual mentor) and 1 Character (close friend, colleague, or mentor - NOT immediate family or relatives).
When two members show mutual interest in each other by clicking the heart icon on each other's profiles. A match unlocks the ability to schedule a Guided Introduction (both must be verified).
When you click the heart icon on someone's profile, you're showing interest. If they also show interest in you, it becomes a match! You can view your sent interests and received interests on the Interests page.
When you click the X icon on a profile, you're passing on that person. They won't be notified. Passed profiles won't show up in your browse results again, but you can view them in the 'Passed Profiles' page if you change your mind.
Your first meeting with every match is a Guided Introduction - a 3-way video call (you, your match, and a trained Christian admin). The trained Christian admin facilitates introductions, asks icebreaker questions, and creates a safe environment. Typically 30-45 minutes. This is REQUIRED before becoming FaithMatches.
Our policy that you can only schedule one meeting at a time. This ensures focused, intentional connections rather than juggling multiple prospects. Once your meeting is completed (or withdrawn/expired), you can schedule with another match.
A follow-up support meeting available to FaithMatches experiencing challenges or needing guidance. Like Guided Introductions, it's a 3-way video call with a trained Christian admin, but scheduling is faster and more flexible (no 7-day waiting period). Can be requested as a couple or individually. Available anytime, as often as needed.
A feature on the Meetings page that allows you to send a direct message to the trained Christian admin assigned to your meeting. Use this for questions, rescheduling requests, or any concerns about your scheduled or pending meetings.
A badge earned by uploading and getting trained Christian admin approval for a 1-2 minute introduction video. Shows on your profile and increases trust with potential matches. Different from the Verification Badge - you can have both!
An optional 1-2 minute video you can upload to introduce yourself to potential matches. Videos are reviewed by trained Christian admins before being displayed. Approved videos earn you a Video Verified badge on your profile, increasing trust and visibility.
Profiles you've bookmarked for later review. You can save profiles you're interested in but not ready to show interest yet. Access your saved profiles from the menu or your profile page.
Customize how match percentages are calculated by adjusting importance weights for different criteria (faith, family planning, ministry calling, etc.). Use platform defaults or personalize to align with your unique calling and vision for marriage.
Conversation starters you can answer on your profile (max 3). Choose from 25+ prompts like "What does your faith mean to you?" or "How do you prioritize God in relationships?" to showcase your faith journey, character, and vision in a more personal way.
A GDPR-compliant banner that appears when you first visit FaithConnect, asking for your consent to use cookies. You can accept or decline. Your choice is saved and synced across devices. Manage your preference anytime in Settings.
Required consent given during registration to process your personal data and special category data (religious beliefs) for matching and verification. GDPR-compliant and mandatory. You can withdraw consent anytime in Settings, which will permanently delete your account and all data.
If you need more than 7 days to schedule your Guided Introduction, you can request a one-time 7-day extension. Provide a valid reason (e.g., busy work schedule, travel). If approved by a trained Christian admin, you get 7 additional days to finalize your meeting time.
A 5-lesson program for singles that prepares you personally before meeting anyone. Covers self-awareness, dating foundations, communication, personal finances, and spiritual foundation.
Each lesson completed = 1 star. Completing all 5 lessons earns you a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating displayed on your profile.
An optional program for FaithMatches (couples in courtship). Covers couple communication, conflict resolution, intimacy & boundaries, joint finances, and marriage planning.
Unlocks automatically after completing your first Guided Introduction and becoming FaithMatches.
Live Zoom workshops hosted by trained Christian admins where members gain practical relationship skills, ask questions, and receive biblical guidance. Available for singles, couples, or mixed groups. Matches with no activity for 30 days are automatically archived. You'll receive nudges at day 7 and day 21 before archiving occurs. This keeps connections active and intentional, ensuring the platform serves committed users.
A complete educational unit within a Preparation Program, consisting of multiple teaching videos and a quiz. Must score 70%+ on quiz to complete the lesson.
Your account status after completing your profile. With 'Onboarded' status, you can browse profiles, show interest, and match with others. However, you still need a Verification Badge to schedule meetings.
Your initial account status when you haven't finished your profile. You cannot browse or interact with other members until you complete all required fields (bio, photos, faith background, etc.) and reach 'Onboarded' status.
A status applied to accounts after 3 unexcused no-shows or 3 withdrawals. Excused no-shows (technical issues, emergencies, severe anxiety) do not count toward this threshold and allow rescheduling. If your account requires admin approval, you must get permission before scheduling new meetings. This protects other members' time and ensures serious, committed participation.
When you don't attend a confirmed meeting without canceling in advance. Excused no-shows (technical issues, emergencies, severe anxiety) do not count against you and allow rescheduling. After 3 unexcused no-shows, your account requires admin approval for new matches.
When you cancel a meeting request before a time is confirmed. While understandable occasionally, repeated withdrawals (3+) trigger admin approval requirements for future matches, as it suggests indecision or lack of commitment.
Ending an active match. For pending meetings (not confirmed), it's called "Unmatch." For FaithMatches (after Guided Introduction), it's "End Connection." Both notify the other party respectfully. FaithMatch breakups are tracked passively for pattern monitoring.
Platform monitoring of patterns including no-shows, meeting cancellations, withdrawals, and FaithMatch breakups. Used to maintain community health and protect members. Excessive negative patterns may result in admin approval requirements or account review.
Your Christian denomination is shown in abbreviated form on your profile for privacy (e.g., 'Bapt.' for Baptist, 'Cath.' for Catholic). Full denomination is revealed after becoming FaithMatches. This protects privacy while showing broad compatibility.
Information hidden until you become FaithMatches: last name, full church name, phone number, full address. Only first name, age, city/country, and public profile details are visible before your Guided Introduction.
A meeting in any of these statuses: pending (waiting for time confirmation), pending admin (waiting for Zoom link), or confirmed (scheduled with Zoom link). You can only have one active meeting at a time per our policy.
When you block a user, their profile disappears from your Browse, Search, and discovery features permanently. They won't know they've been blocked. You can manage and unblock users anytime in Settings → Blocked Users.
Submit a confidential complaint about a user to our admin team. Select a reason (inappropriate content, harassment, fake profile, spam, underage, or other) and optionally provide details. All reports are reviewed by trained safeguarding staff within 24-48 hours.
